Day In Life for Supply Chain and IT teams with Swift PO Receiving
Here’s an example of a Day In Life showing how Swift inculcates agility into an enterprise at a global level.
- Global IT team based in the US implemented Swift PO Receiving app for their US Supply Chain operations.
- They gave a demo to the UK Supply Chain team of the app running in the US warehouses.
- The UK team showed their concerns of how they needed changes to suit their UK warehouse.
- Business Analyst captured feedback and incorporated changes right there and got the warehouse operator test it on the Honeywell scanner.
- Manager, Supply Chain asked if the apps can be rolled out to the operators on their android and iPhones as well in addition to the scanners.
- Swift System Admin did that right there during the call without the operators having to install any additional app or get any additional login credentials.
Supply Chain Director provides feedback to the app and raises concerns regarding their UK specific needs.
I liked the demo you guys gave to our group yesterday. But my concern is that we would need quite a few changes to the apps to make them work like we do here in the UK warehouse.
We would also need e-signatures and the ability for the warehouse operators to take pictures of the inventory in the Purchase Order Receiving app.
– Director, Supply Chain
Business Analyst opens up the Swift Designer and incorporates the feedback right there and asks Scott (warehouse operator) to test it out on the scanner.
Ok, let me open up the designer and let’s get the additional fields that you need pulled right in from the ERP. Also, let me add the e-signature and the camera controls right here.
Scott, go ahead and test it out and let me know if this looks good on your Honeywell.
– Business Analyst
Scott (warehouse operator) tests it out on the Honeywell scanner, acknowledges the changes work great and requests further changes.
Got it… let me open it right now!
Yes, now I see those additional fields too… let me check the e-signature and camera control.
Hey that looks pretty good! Can you make the inventory line items auto-add as I scan the barcodes?
Also, we will need the list of items in the dropdown to depend on the warehouse branch number.
– Warehouse Operator
Business Analyst Kim incorporates further feedback based on Scott’s request and shows the changes.
Here… let me get it done right away and show you. Let me open up the app designer.
Ok, so now this “Auto Line Item” feature should make your line items add automatically as you keep scanning more items… no need to tap the screen.
Also, here using the Depends On functionality now your items will be filtered based on the warehouse number.
– Business Analyst
Supply Chain Manager asks whether the app can be launched across the warehouse including the operators who use android or iPhone instead of Honeywell scanners.
Wow! that was Swift!
Can you guys roll it out for all the operators in the warehouse… some of them don’t use the actual Honeywell scanners, but use their android and iPhones?
– Manager, Supply Chain
The ability to create “disposable” experimental processes and apps opens up the untapped potential of the enterprise to address business problems with an unprecedented agility and positive innovation energy.
Swift System Admin instantly provisioned them to other operators including the ones with android and iPhones without them having to install the apps.

How Swift provides this game-changing capability?
Most low-code, no-code platforms evolved as the next-phase of the original development tools, built a decade or two ago, and still follow the same development mindset in their DNA. Although they’ve tried their best to make them easy for the business analysts and the users, majority have fallen short.
To bring about the real paradigm shift and benefits of a low-code/no-code platform, a grounds-up rethinking was required to work at a meta-data level, and incorporate at the core of the architecture, the latest and greatest advancements in web and mobile technologies, integration, security, analytics and cloud-based server frameworks.
Since our launch a few years ago, we’ve helped some of the largest and most complex enterprises in the world (ranging from construction, mining, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, life sciences and other industries) to get on their journey of true innovation agility using Swift (more here)
