We are thrilled to present the latest release notes for Aug 2024. Swift now has even better features for easier use and smoother operations.

Read on to discover the highlights of this release and unlock new possibilities for your app development journey.

Advanced Database Queries

With this release, make the most of your data with the new Advanced Database Queries feature. This enhancement allows users to write and execute custom SQL queries directly within the platform, giving you greater control and flexibility over data retrieval and manipulation.

How to use this feature

  • Go to the Applications section.

  • Select the app where you want to enable custom queries.

  • Go to Custom View Action Forms (also available for FBF, Entry Form, and Dashboard).

  • In the Channel Dropdown, choose your database and turn on the Write Query option.

  • Enter your query according to your specific requirements.

Swift List Form Component

With this release, make your work easier with the new Swift List Form Component. This will allow users to use the existing Find and Browse forms more efficiently. Users can quickly turn these forms into Swift List components, saving time and cutting down on repetitive work.

With this integration, users can easily access and manage data lists, cut down on manual tasks, and have more time for important activities.

How to Use this feature:

  • Log in to Swift Designer and navigate to the Applications section.
  • Choose the specific application where you want to implement the Swift List Form.
  • Locate the Custom View Action Forms within your selected application.
  • Choose the Swift List Form from the available components and customize it based on your needs.

HTML Editor on App Tour

With this release, users can now enhance their app tours using the new HTML Editor. This upgrade allows for more engaging and informative tours by providing customizable fields like names, descriptions, and time-based settings.

This feature helps you showcase your app’s value and improve user onboarding and retention.

How to Use this feature:

  • Go to App Tour from the sidebar in Swift Designer.
  • Click on the + icon to create a new app tour.
  • Provide Tour Details
  • Click Submit to save your tour.

Edit App Tour Details:

  • Access the created tour from the list to edit its details.
  • You can add or delete steps as needed to customize the tour flow.

Database Support for GridView Control

With this release, users can now connect the GridView control in Swift Designer directly to their databases. Previously limited to REST channels, this new feature enhances flexibility by allowing real-time data display and improved performance.

This update bridges the gap between customer journeys and business processes through seamless data integration.

How to use this feature:

  • Open Swift Designer and go to the Applications section.
  • Select the app where you want to add the GridView.
  • Drag and drop the GridView component into your design from the View Action Form.
  • Click the edit pencil icon on the GridView to access settings.
  • Set the channel to Database in the configuration panel to connect and retrieve data.

Entry Form Redirection from Find & Browse Form

With this release, users can now enable a checkbox to activate redirection to an entry form, streamlining data management. This enhancement provides a smoother user experience by facilitating quick transitions and enabling rapid detail entry, making the app more efficient and intuitive.

Seamlessly transitioning from the Find and Browse form to specific entry forms is crucial for preserving relevant row data and improving overall app functionality.

How to use this feature:

  • Open the Applications section from the sidebar in Swift Designer.

  • Choose the app where you want to add the new feature.

  • Go to the Find and Browse form for the Entry form redirection/popup.

  • Check the box for redirection in the form settings.

  • Enable the redirection option and select the entry form from the dropdown menu.

By clicking on the “Map Field” will open the Field Mapping screen where you can map the FBF fields with Entry form fields.

Rich Text Editor

With this release, users can now enjoy the new Rich Text Editor for Entry and VA Forms. Previously, text fields only allowed plain text, making it tough to format data or add elements like links and bold text. This update lets you easily format text, insert links, and include other rich content directly in forms, improving your information’s presentation and clarity.

With this, you can enhance your forms with advanced text formatting options, improving data capture and presentation within your application.

How to use this feature:

  • Navigate to Applications from the sidebar in Swift Designer.
  • Access the Applications section.
  • Select the app where you want to add the Rich Text component.
  • Go to the View Action Form where you want to implement the feature.
  • Customize the form to add and configure the Rich Text Editor based on your requirements.

Your feedback is essential in driving us forward, so please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with us; and stay tuned for more groundbreaking features as we evolve!

The ability to create “disposable” experimental processes and apps opens up the untapped potential of the enterprise to address business problems with an unprecedented agility and positive innovation energy.

How Swift provides the game-changing capability?

Most low-code, no-code platforms evolved as the next-phase of the original development tools, built a decade or two ago, and still follow the same development mindset in their DNA. Although they’ve tried their best to make them easy for the business analysts and the users, majority have fallen short.

To bring about the real paradigm shift and benefits of a low-code/no-code platform, a grounds-up rethinking was required to work at a meta-data level, and incorporate at the core of the architecture, the latest and greatest advancements in web and mobile technologies, integration, security, analytics and cloud-based server frameworks.
